AK74 is an assault rifle in CrossFire.

Overview[]

The AK74 is an assault rifle developed in the early 1970s, by Russian designer Mikhail Kalashnikov as the replacement for the earlier AKM.

This weapon features several substantial design improvements, primarily the result of converting the rifle to the intermediate-caliber high velocity 5.45×39mm cartridge.

Performance[]

This weapon can be considered as an alternative for rookie players who wanted a similar rifle like the AK47. This weapon is much easier to control, also with reduced recoil, but it deals lower damage and slightly slower firing speed than the AK47 (except CF Vietnam).

This weapon can hold up to 30 rounds per magazine, with either 60 or 90 rounds in reserve (vary between CF versions).

Advantages[]

  • Moderate damage dealing.
  • High accuracy.
  • Medium recoil.
  • Purchasable in item shop for GPs.
  • Faster firing speed than the AK47 (CF Vietnam only).

Disadvantages[]

  • Loses accuracy when sprayed.
  • Slower firing speed than the AK-47 (except CF Vietnam).
  • Very loud firing sound (less louder than AK47).
  • Bad spraying pattern.
  • Slow drawing speed.

Variants[]

Trivia[]

  • Like the AK47, the AK74 is one of few weapons that received a new animation, but only in some regions.
    • Eventually, with the updated Accessory System, it got reverted to old animation.
  • The gas block of the AK74's model is from the AK47, not AK74.
  • The color of the magazine that AK74 uses in-game is a current "True Black" magazine used by a modernized version of AK74 (known as the AK74MN) and its Bulgarian variants of AK74 known as the "Circle 10" magazines made by Arsenal Bulgaria, and the real-life magazine color of the AK74 is the Russian "Bakelite Orange" magazine manufactured by Tula Arms Plant and Izhmash but it's now surplus collectibles hence Bakelite magazines are no longer manufactured, but some collectors nicknamed these magazines as "Russian Izzy magazine" or simply "Bakelite magazine".
  • Unlike most AK47 variants, AK74 hasn't been fixed and has original stats in CF Vietnam, so it's a great choice for players who want to play an alternative version of AK47 that isn't nerfed for free.
