Overview[]

Like it's predecessor, XTrap, it keeps a lookout on cheats which manipulate the Game Memory and if detected, kicks players out of the Game.

It's a lot more sophisticated than XTrap, with the Ability to Restrict VPN Access, and detect Macro-usage. One of the more welcome feature is the ability to use multiple language files that allows players to read the error message in their native language instead of the default English one. Due to its cheaper price however, XINGCOD3 is reported to be a lot weaker than XTrap, with more bypass methods available to cheaters to exploit.

A complete rundown of the Functionality of said Anti-Cheat can be found here.

Update in CF Vietnam[]

After the service transition to VTC Online, XIGNCOD3 (Now called XC3) received a significant update that allows it to fight against mod menu a lot more effective. Whenever mod menus are used, XC3 will take a screenshot on player's client, log it to VTC's server before issuing a permanent ban, eliminating the need to save replays after each match (Which are unsupported in some game modes) and does not require the cheater to actually enter any room before the bans, minimizing havoc wrecking effect. It also implements IP-ban, which blacklists player's IP address after numerous bans happened so any subsequent login from said IP adress will result in automatic bans. This, however, has a side effect of falsely banning innocent players who played at Internet Cafes that received IP-ban, thus VTC Online does allow appeal for this particular ban reason.

Several cheat programs have attempted to soft-mod the game so no mod menu is shown and try blocking screenshot function to avoid evidence collecting - however, all of these workarounds are monitored by Code Hunter, and the cheaters will still be logged of suspicious activities which eventually lead to their ban as no whitelist apps are capable of interfering with CrossFire's basic screenshot function.

Trivia[]

  • CF Vietnam update this Anti-Cheat Tool quietly near the end of 2018 without a news on their website. However, players are still informed about this change via social networks (Facebook). Rumor has it that the switch to XIGNCODE3 was to save money on VTC's part as XTrap costs a lot more for monthly license.
  • If your client have both XTrap and XIGNCODE3 (which happens in CF servers that used XTrap and then switched to XINGCOD3) and the game is run via publisher's Patcher instead of cf_patcher2.exe, both will be launched but XIGNCODE3 will be prioritized. This is evident in CF Vietnam that running the VTC Launcher will initialize Xtrap, but moment later when HGWC finishes checking game files, XIGNCODE3 will be initialized.
