"SWAT is a specialized hybrid force consisting of special forces operatives and police officers, created for the purpose of hostage extrication and combating terrorism."
- in-game description

SWAT is a male character, also one of the three basic characters, featured in CrossFire.

Overview[]

The SWAT (Special Weapons And Tactics) is an elite tactical unit in America and some international law enforcement departments. It is one of the three characters available to choose from the start of the game, or can be bought later in Item Shop. It is also the most popular starting character in the game as well.

History[]

In the early 1960s, when city crimes in the United States were increasing at an alarming rate, the U.S. police forces and the federal agency put together a military strategy system to fight against the rampaging criminals, the LAPD (Los Angeles Police Department) established the first special unit to combat highly armed criminals. It was named S.W.A.T. (Special Weapons And Tactics) by LAPD commander Daryl F. Gates, and it has brought a new revolution to crime resistance.

In 1971, the SWAT team became a permanent force with a unified structure: small units comprised of 6 soldiers and middle sized groups comprised of 60 soldiers. The SWAT has worked through the 1970s in suppressing armed criminals and with their help, was able to suppress major armed conflicts with zero or minimal civilian casualties.

Trivia[]

  • During beta days, the BL side of SWAT 1.0 had the same helmet worn by the GR one, which was just a recolored version from blue to white, along with the ski mask. Their only differences at that time were their tactical vest's design, and an additional tattoo for the BL side. This was changed when the game had been officially released but can be seen in the old Loading Screen, even after when the game had been upgraded to 2.0 version.
  • They are infamously portrayed as easily "killable" soldiers in the media, since SWAT is one of the default characters and often used by newbies. However, some others claim that all characters is killable and it depends on each player's skills. This statement shows positive opinion (although this can be considered as most male characters have brute looks while all female characters have slim shape).
